Any reason that 2nd quality stores took such a dip?

No farmer buyers and the big dealers now only have orders for cattle that are either fhinshed or can be fhinshed within 100 days, no one wants the 2nd quality stuff and TBH if you have this type of animal to sell then you either hold it until Jan 18 or jst except that you wont get much more than baby calve/ very small stirk prices for them.

Feed is also going up which will hit the margins on the longer term 2nd quality cattle that naturally will take a lot longer to fhinsh.

You know its a bad trade when one very good/strong South Devon steer had to be put thru the ring three times to be sold as the bidders refused to have it on their account the first two times after the hammer had fallen.

Didn't see any stirks sold due to technical issues.... :ROFLMAO:

Store lambs were a mental trade, even local large scale fhinsher @farmerclare commented on what a dear trade it was!
And what technical issues were these then :rolleyes::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
i don't think I've seen so many store lambs this time of year and so expensive. some of them were more than they would be fat. I was looking at maybe buying a few but not at that trade :eek:

How many wagon loads did you steal...

No TB licence :(:banghead::mad: but would have been very easy to fill an artic today with cattle that were decent sorts but a low average price across the board.

Even the auctioneer made the comment : Just what has happened to trade in the last two weeks?!

For example two 550/600 kilo named Hereford heifers FA and 28/29 months that need about 2 months feeding to fhinsh them only made £780!
