Mine are spending 20 hrs a day slobbing about in shade and not eating......Had hoped for a draw on Monday but no chance with the weights I recorded yesterday

Still thousands of hoggs being traded, once they’ve gone the lamb price will surely jump back up a bit. Numbers won’t be there.
Hope you're right but can't see it lambs putting flesh on and will come out in big numbers soonStill thousands of hoggs being traded, once they’ve gone the lamb price will surely jump back up a bit. Numbers won’t be there.
Looks like spring lambs have only been 216 in Newark.
There'll be some men wishing they'd killed there ewe hogs the £200 theaves looks a long way off.Good fit to kill lambs 40+ kilos at sedge today made around £78 head.
Leaner stuff £50/60 ish..
Store cattle a slightly easier trade but given the grave concerns about the forage situation trade is holding up well and now is the time to sell if this weather carry's on much longer!
Trade was always going to drop of the cliff at some point ! It always does ...!!There'll be some men wishing they'd killed there ewe hogs the £200 theaves looks a long way off.
I think once forage is in and shearing is done there's going to be a fair bit of lamb about.
many of the march lambing boys round here haven't drawn yet and they'll almost certainly have alot of fit lambs ready when they do start going through the flocks
I have heard the figure of one million less lambs in the country compared to last year ,I don’t know how true that is but in some areas the lambing was not just bad it was awful.Agree but there’s gonna be a hell of a less lambs in the country after the bad spring. Not spoke to many people who have more lambs anyway. All got to be a factor. No ones gonna grumble at £2 a kilo during peak period though, just don’t want to see it going down that 160-180 way. No enough.
hoggets seemed to last a month longer than normal so that could of taken up half a million of the slackI have heard the figure of one million less lambs in the country compared to last year ,I don’t know how true that is but in some areas the lambing was not just bad it was awful.

We’ve sent a couple hundred with over 300 due to go the next 10 days. Weights are light, lambs arnt killing out as well as they should grade and weight wise - apparently our area is fairing better than most. Land drying up here so we’re picking lighter again - plus ram lambs are mainly entire which could cause a problem in the autumn so their going lighter. With any luck folk will have got lambs off on the light job last few weeks.
I'm bulking next week's consignment up with some light ram lambs to get them gone.
Picked abit lighter on the whole lot to get them gone as it's crisping up.here now.
The more lambs gone now nationally, the better it hopefully holds up for the autumn
