Up 7p/kg live last week and less about, hopes are rising, will draw anouther trailer load for next week and hope they keep rising.

No way general public can afford beef if it goes to £5 kilo. Would be worst thing that could happen as we might end up like the sheep trade and have big crash in price.
Agreed,lets get to £4/kg steadily,and go from there,we are in the best position we ever have been at the moment.If you cant make a profit at that,your costs are too high and you need to find out why.

As fast as the beef price goes up then stores follow!! as for the consumers not being able to afford beef at £5/kilo dw, no reason they have to as the current mark up ( after costs ) from farm gate to supermarket shelve is massive... sirloin in the shops is around £16/£17/ kilo for example...

lamb prices on the way back up at last , sedgemore monday , tues market similar prices , culls not so sparking yet

Waitrose have funded beef producers to establish their true cost of production, warts and all. No one has , so far, shown a figure per kg that represents a profit....
Higher prices are great, but costs are eating it all faster than the price is increasing.
