Took my store cattle today would average around the £2/kg mark for hairy hill type cattle so was well pleased, as @gone up the hill predicted everything was selling well and far in front of the late autumn trade, buyers from all over the country. Lambs were dreadful though saw good £50kg lambs making in the £60s and best export Beltex sorts struggling to the £70s, three of the normal big buyers didn't turn up and the others wernt that interested :(

Aye I knew you would do well(y)

Sedge on Sat averaged £988 for steers ( and that includes all waifs and strays, Fri steers etc etc ) highest average for about 2 years I reckon!

Store lamb price is just plain crazy, averaging between £60/62 head at markets in the SW currently, needs to be at least a tenner less than this!

Ashford today was a little brighter on the sheep side, Lambs were around £1.71 although very variable and heavies not wanted. The best ewes were at long last a little better but would have to be export types to be over £75.

Store cattle were a great trade, except for those from the Edge TB area. Although the fat trade was back different to everywhere else.

Great news about the sheep.

Depressing about the store cattle

181p/kg for my Char x lambs at Salisbury yesterday. Turns out I topped the market! Beginners luck I reckon. I'll definitely be standing in the pen when they're sold though. It was the first time I've done it and it seems to have made a difference.

The 50kg heavies I saw sold only made £70 so demand for them has dried up.
