11,000 were due there?
Have you got anymore of a breakdown? From what I’ve heard the market report that comes out on the Thursday is a bit high compared to what stuff actually made the day before... the £head given on the culls is that top price or average for each breed?
did not see culls sold sorry

Thanks that makes a bit more sense then! Texel’s to £120 a few months ago and I was offered £80 the same week off the farm for 3.5-4’s, I thought I was being robbed, probably wasn’t much in it..
Good big ewes always sell well in Hereford, back before the festival it didn't take much of a ewe to make £100.

Hereford report- fat lambs the dearest for 7 yrs for the time of year, averaged £76.60. Stores averaged £56.21. Culls averaged £49.53. Breeders were difficult with only the very best selling well.
What weights and breed are the fat lambs? Countrywide,we are well underneath this time last year liveweight. Pound is weaker too.

175.5 p/kg average. Easier if i could copy and post the report but my tech skills are from the stoneage. Reading a few reports from around the country it seems rearing calves are on the slide ,unless there top draw.

Any crack from Longtown?
Pretty rubbish to be honest, certainly the worst trade we have had all season with the lambs. Massive ewe show so mine had not been sold when I left but not expecting as they looked back a bit as well.

Not great then.
No we were very early so they may have lifted, can’t help thinking that if the livewight job doesn’t improve all lambs will end up deadweight as hanging around an auction is a massive waste of time. We have always got more of a premium for our better lambs through an auction but this year it’s just not there. Watched some outstanding beltex lambs from a neighbour only get to £80 when a passed them and they decided to bid as they went out the ring.
