Hell of a trade today, market average was 217ppk.
My best pen of 39.5kg made £96 and even my big 60kg ones made £116 .

So what the hell is going on then? Or does anyone know? It p!sses me off to be honest,because it just means that all the good lambs that have been sold in the last 4 months or so have all been mucked away! If they can pay it now,they could have paid it then! It is no way to market our lambs! There has got to be a way to level it out for a good decent price right through the year.There should be no excuses,cold stores surely cannot be that expensive to build and upkeep.

I’d happily see lambs get to 4.50 and then just stay there,
It’s the cull ewe job that needs to be woken up

I know! That's £20/head more I was getting today than 2 weeks ago for the same lambs. It's a £1000 on the trailer load !!

If this is the case, how come the likes of Fresh aren’t pushing the price on? They mainly export I believe, so surely they’re the ones with the most demand?

I will believe you when i see some concrete evidence.

Its the Xmas/ New Year shortage of days to procure and kill simple supply and demand always been the case. Family always shifted a lot of lambs over this period over the years -- lets hope it does not slip back dont think it will.

Yes, the current lowered ewe price is in a way more worrying, as there should be consistent demand from the ethnic market. Any ideas what's going on?
