Beef / Lamb & Pig Price Tracker

Who is predicting that? :(

The problem for the next week or so for buyers is that they have no idea what is going to happen with the B word as anything could happen so prices could well be quite jittery between now and then.

Some talk now that even the tariffs the UK government announced last week in the event of a no deal are incorrect and will change but to what no one seems to know! utter shambles!

Be intresting to see how markets fare today for cattle/ lambs.
I’ve read that the tariffs that the U.K. potentially imposed last week are now ‘illegal’ due to wto rules

Tariffs quoted last week are illegal under WTO, it was obvious from the moment they were published.

So surmising it was full (400) that’s £10 per lamb
There’s only one abattoir in the IOM and the government sets the price...hence why they’ll send them over the water
yeah,we thought it prob be tenner a lamb, think a few farmers must gather together to fill it....dont know anything about IOM but must be awfully bad price if they can stand a tenner off and still be worth coming!
On second thoughts i suppose it will show that abbatoir that they arent gonna be held to ransom even if they dont make much more in Kirkby for an odd time.

I know one farmer who started going to Kirby from the north,he told me that he was over 2 grand better off on his load of 120 lambs than in his local mart. To me that means there is someone in the chain making serious profit.

Ewes At Hereford Yesterday:

CULL EWES -3163 Auctioneer -Matthew Nicholls
Another superb entry of ewes sold to another buoyant trade, averaging just short of £70/head. The easiest selling types are those Suffolk and continental ewes with meat. Ewes flying to £148/head with other pens from two separate vendors at £140/head. Plenty of ewes £115 to £120/head. Strongest Suffolks to £114/head and any amount £90 to £105. A nice pen of Welsh meated ewes would break the £70 barrier, with several £60/head plus. Even the very plain and lean ewes were selling well. The Mule ewes would be no dearer and would struggle to break £80/head, but plenty £70/head plus. Nearly 100 goats forward, selling to a superb trade. Nine buyers in attendance, representing many more firms. More ewes required next week

didn't matter what weight they were today, unless they were texel types, if they were over 50kg they made £85-90/hd and had to be smart lambs to be £90. there were 50-65kgs in that price bracket at Thrapston today.

I did have one stonking beltex/charloais that some how missed previous draws at 59kg who made £110.

little beltex's at 40kg were into the 90's though
