Theres a couple of dealers up here that have a lot of hoggs about still. Don’t know of that many elsewhere apart from the usual bits and pieces.

hmm maybe many will get them marketed at the right weight / grade next year instead of waiting for gold at the end of the rainbow ,most would have got nearly todays prices last january , To be fair mid 90s isnt bad prices on a normal year , last year was a one off .Buyers have prob been told not to go over 100 this time around prices are just to grouped

More than normal amounts of lambs will of been marketed over summer due to the drought....it’s sad not getting £100 for a decent bred Hogg in 2019

i think long term it has to go one way or another , lamb has dragged well below inflation for maybe a decade , same as milk . the costs of producing escalate ever upward and at some point there has to be a stable correction .

Where do we think lambs/hoggs will be next week? I missed this week as I am lambing and back to work but I could have some sorted On Sunday ready but I’m just wondering whether to leave them another week or not?

The term suck lambs, must bea southern thing , as we call them spring lambs, which I think sounds more marketable to the public .

Averaged £92.80 at Dingwall for 42kg. Pen of 42kg texels £96, Feels like it’s peaked but hope I’m wrong for anyone holding out

likely suck more NZ imports in as they have trade deals in place , hopefully leaving europe under quota .

Red for Hoggs across SW markets today.

Dire suck lamb trade at Holsworthy today, SQQ was only 2.29pk ( down about 16pk on the week )

Exeter had an incredible 2142 suck lambs penned on Monday.

In total with suck lambs/ hoggs and cull ewes they had a massive 4288 sheep penned up!

Sorry to say it but with the way things are the prices you got for those calves is all they are currently worth.
