Beef / Lamb & Pig Price Tracker

So, can anybody give us the definitive requirements for the up coming festival? (Is this one Qurbani???)
I reckon that last year we signed a form to say that our tup lambs met the requirements but I can't remember what they were.
@Woolless ??? @Smith31 ???

Edit ... and when is the best date to take them to market, please.
IIRC, the proper spec is a male over six months with no injuries or mutilations. For many outlets, I would think any lamb with nuts would do. There can't be many January-born tup lambs hanging about now? Or tup hoggs? Week commencing August 5th would be the week for market, the festival is the weekend 10/11.

Thanks - that's why I was asking. Now's the time we pick the Lincoln tup lambs that we are retaining for breeding, the rest are killed and last year they went under a signed declaration for the qurbani festival which meant they sold well.
It's only 1 or 2 pens but the premium was well worth having.

Actually thinking about it the last batch that went from here were the usual tail end types, mostly sold to Weasel in the beginning of June. Maybe he has them laid up ready

Some require over 12 months old ...some are happy with healthy lambs...some want tup lambs ...some want goats, yet others will happily purchase cast ewes and tups with no teeth!!!

Every buyer seems to have a different spec.

Everything we have here is at least over 6 months old, all fit and healthy absolutely no lame sheep or anything with any visible damage. Everyone seems to be happy with that. Alot of our older sheep are too good to slaughter, but they are willing to pay the premium and have been purchased from store marts.

Usually trade starts picking up a week and a half before the festival, to meet the butchers demand. However, it is so hot this year it is hard to predict the demand seems to be low.
