Plenty of dairy farmers ( esp those with NZ grass rats ) are now signing contracts to finish the cattle at 22/24 months old at a flat rate of £2.75 kilo, cattle are averaging about £700 on the hook and they think they are making a profit but they haven't worked out yet that the milk cheque is actually subbing the beef cattle!
Who is offering these contracts?

Cockermouth stores yesterday were on fire for most of the sale it did drop off towards the end maybe last 100 or so cattle. Plenty of optimism in beef or just empty pens and a lot of hope.
As posted earlier fat cattle were a very good trade in Thirsk, over 200 clean and 140 bulls. Fat lambs were also very dear as well, Good place to be on a Thursday at the moment.

Cattle killed at woodheads yesterday liveweight as weighed on Monday at home would normally said at least another month wouldn't of spoilt them but going to have to watch the weights

Got some lambs to sell but I am a little worried as I know a lot of people at my usual market who have had issues recently getting paid. Lots of bounced cheques and bacs payments never arriving. I want to support it but need the money to cover bills myself. It is a large East Midlands market and would like to think things are ok. Advise welcome
