Depends how lean they are. If they have flesh they will be very good money if lean then harder to sell. My culls on Thursday were definitely back on what I sold the previous week too many lean ewes about. If they are too lean and you can put flesh on cheaply just run them on for a bit if you can’t do that cash them. Lean and heavy ewes are still ok money
Wouldn’t say they were real lean, got plenty more running on and usually put some better sorts on the roots with Hoggs. Just like to have a tickle now so they don’t make as much mess at home. Maybe should hold them back. What will trade be like in new year. Don’t really want to hold them until festival time of year again.

That’s the trouble. If you keep them it may end up being best time to cash them at festival. I think there’s too many lean ewes about at the moment it’s just that time of year. Mine were proper knack ewes couldn’t put flesh on with grass so better gone.

Disappointing beef trade again, average down another 6p to £1.99 compared to £2.05 last week and £2.15 the week before, which matches what I have been getting.
Had a shapely little bullock that on prices 2 weeks ago I hoped would make £2.30, took him today and he only made £2.17

They are now all bought up for the Xmas trade.

And of course now the pub/ Resturant trade is all but gone with the rules in the new tiers and of course now they are banned from selling booze in Wales from Friday will be the final nail in the coffin for most of them and that trade for meat, esp given Dec is one of the most important months of the year in this sectors year!
