As a store cattle cattle buyer, I can't see stores getting much less until the fat job eases, yes there may be an occasional price drop in a store market somewhere due to weather, lambing or covid, but spring is getting closer every week now some smaller summering cattle, which some of them look half buyable now if you have silage and straw these cattle will get a bit dearer because they usually do as grass starts to grow.
Will they get dearer if fat keeps getting dearer???? who knows, it's all just a bigger gamble, just a bigger game we all play around the store ring every week!!!!!!
As a store buyer your margin stays the same?.....if one turns its toes up the losses just get bigger.

Turnover just increases.

How is the season looking across the board for scanning we were up 6℅ at 184 for the older ewes scanned so far?
Still got 350 to do on Friday mainly ewe lambs, I’ll keep the exlana’s but unsure on the mules.
The 900 I scanned last week averaged 180%, down a bit with 10% triplets, around 30% singles and 60% twins, chuffed with that as lambing will be easier compared to 20% triplets

The best course of action then is too sell them as many as we can! Then next year buy them all back for less money because it’s not as easy as that and it can’t be done from a tractor seat!! 😁😜😜
Maggots during harvest wouldn’t sit well!!!

what would be normal losses in store lambs? Know of a few people losing around 20/500 to brambles or heads in wire. Drives me mad to hear about it as they would only be checked once a week? That doesn’t include losses to pneumonia, sudden death, scab etc

A bit lighter, few less 3s , would be better, its going to make a bit of work at lambin time.....but you dont get anywhere in this job without a bit of hard graft, as you will know!
Bloody sure about that. Any secrets about flushing or supplements??
Bolus here and used some db tuppy buckets this time a bit of beet too and some saved fog

I think i need secrets off you, not the other way round!
I just gave mine a cobalt/selenium mineral dose and i had sold more fat lambs this year and other lambs went to a dairy farm so had more grass at tupping time.

Would think they must be seen less than once a week to lose many (any?) to brambles & heads stuck.
