I’m just thinking about what one of my mates said in October
‘We should sell every sheep on the place now then buy them back when they drop again’
Probably seemed sense then but they’ve gone up £20 + since then so what would you do now?
Same scenario with selling/killing ewe lambs.
Price now could be irrelevant if none of us know what thy are going to be worth later
I had 400 mule shearlings in September which I still have. Everyone told me to sell them or some of them probably near £160 at the time
But what would it have cost to replace them
Would hazard an educated guess that breeder will be as dear if not more so this backend than they were last 👍

But to me, cost of replacing an empty ewe lamb at scanning with an extra one from next years crop is minimal the only bit that gets me is the £8 in vaccines they had in October and to be fair I would be hoping to be closer to £120 than £110 if I have many to sell .....will find out on Wednesday 🤞 most will be in lamb

I tend to try not to import female breeding sheep unless I have a good reason to do so.
Bought 180 in lamb in the spring off one farm
Another similar batch off 2 farms
I certainly wouldn’t be buggering about selling a handful of ewe lambs then replacing them in September with the associated risks involved it’s not worth doing it
