Unfortunately it will be close to 0.3% margin on huge turnover that’s why the occasional one goes bangYou don't honestly think processors are making 30-40% margins do you? They will be getting squeezed by their customers constantly, and running on very tight margins, which is why they need massive throughput to keep running.
Seriously what is driving store cattle prices. Fat is better yes but with straw and feed expensive margins have to be questionable?Exeter today :
Yet another massive entry for the time of year with 3738 sheep penned.
Store hoggs, about 2500 penned sold to a solid trade but back £6 head on average to average across the board £91.70
In lamb breeding ewes, a terrific run of 602 off one farm being a genuine dispersal sale topped out at £158 head for 8 pens of FM in lamb mules, all 602 head averaged an incredible £147 head.
Orphan lambs, 36 penned up sold to what could be one of the dearest trades ever seen with no end of buyers looking to buy lambs to keep their kids busy so they don't have to home school them! all 36 averaged £32 head with very small lambs exceptionally dear making between £28/33 head ( for comparison 12 months ago these £28/33 lambs were making £3/8 head.
Couples, a massive entry penned with many outfits showing the effects of the weather were a much dearer trade on the week to average £199 outfit all in, top was £265 for doubles and a staggering £200 outfit for singles.

Abp down 35p to £5.45. Was to be expected. Be quite a few swale lambs 115-130 this week. Wouldn’t be anywhere near in the ring.
