Prices are dropping a bit for next week but sounds very much like that is due to the problems at the ports ref paperwork, assuming those in power see sense and get things moving again sooner rather than later there is no reason why lamb prices wont suddenly bounce back and possible even go stronger than they currently are!
I don't think its all down to the ports although it isn't helping give the job 3 weeks to a month and it'll be on the rise big time

The drop in price is likely just an attempt by the processors to pull prices back to where they want them to be
They will have put their heads together to do this
It is a dangerous time for them to leave prices where they are without intervening at this time of year as numbers tighten and prospect of numbers being tighter than normal
They know there’s only a set number of sheep and it annoys them to be paying more than they see necessary
We will see what happens but if my theory is correct it will lift sharply when it does within a few weeks
I feel like this when I’m buying store lambs for more than I budgeted! 😁

Where are these farmers going pop?

There isn't a pop, there is a gentle hiss as their capital evaporates.

Look at how the number of farmers has declined.
Look at all the figures of incomes from farming.
Look at how the cost of inputs have risen compared to the price of produce.
Look at how proposed rules will further increase costs with no benefit.

The increase in the price of land has bankrolled many farms but even that has now reached a plateau.
The worst thing is that many farmers don't even hope to make a living from their farming.

The rest of the food chain work on a cost plus profit basis. We've been squeezed to the edge of existence. It is up to them if they want us to survive and they may soon realise that without us, they are out of a job too. We all need each other.

What’s wrong with Rare Breeds, if they are finished properly they are just as good as anything else if not better even
They are a fine but are never going to kill out as well. A Cotswold or Hebridean in market as never going to make anywhere as much ppkg as a beltex, Texel or Charolais, therefore if a third of the market is made up of rare breeds the sqq is hammered, so they drop the dead weight price.
