Do you think we should demand a pay cut??
How extreme are these prices of sheep!!!
1992 £100
2021 £113
That’s up £13 in 29 years!!!
13 divided by 29 = 44p
A wage increase of 44p per year
It’s not actually even that if you worked out av prices
I'm sure there's a self punishment gene in farmers that we must be grateful to scrape by and if we make a bit on a lamb or a beast or a wagon load of wheat we should be apologetic. Do people on here think if the local independent selling say fireplaces or cars worries if they make a bob or two.

Isn’t it what happens after years of being kicked in the teeth at seemingly every opportunity? 😉

I'd like to know when in 92 it was £100 for hogs, and for how many. Cos if you're just quoting top prices from march April thats hardly like for like.
There's been top prices of £150 already this month, and everyone is talking March April prices up, so that puts rather a different slant on it.
Theres store lambs making £113 this month. What did store lambs make in early 92?

Lies, damn lies and statistics is the phrase that comes to mind.

They are a fine but are never going to kill out as well. A Cotswold or Hebridean in market as never going to make anywhere as much ppkg as a beltex, Texel or Charolais, therefore if a third of the market is made up of rare breeds the sqq is hammered, so they drop the dead weight price.
i would be surprised if any auction would get a third or any where near it of rare breeds and a lot of rare breeds will kill out just as good or if not better than a Swale or many other hill breed. ive never had a Cotswold but my Hebs will kill out at R3L in May

There are some sheep farmers out there not benefiting from the price rise ,those are the ones on supermarket contracts and there are a few of them.
I’m prepared too be seated for this.

What the hell were they doing signing up in the first place?! Jesus you only have too look at Dairy and Pigs too see what good a fixed contract with the likes of Tesco does for you?!

“Oh yes you can have a contract. Just send us your CoP figures every month so when you are all tied up we can offer you a price based on 1ppk above cost on the average for the last 5 years”

If you get into bed with a tiger, don’t complain when it bites you.
