We have been through this before, they won’t have it they know best.I’m prepared too be seated for this.
What the hell were they doing signing up in the first place?! Jesus you only have too look at Dairy and Pigs too see what good a fixed contract with the likes of Tesco does for you?!
“Oh yes you can have a contract. Just send us your CoP figures every month so when you are all tied up we can offer you a price based on 1ppk above cost on the average for the last 5 years”
If you get into bed with a tiger, don’t complain when it bites you.
agree , but thats the failure of the CAP , supposedly to subsidise cheap food production for the masses , which has essentially given the green light for supermarkets etc to pay what they think they can get away with . they know our COP , Larry goodman didnt build an empire on just taking a margin , the whole supply chain is being manipulated by clever frsI'm sure there's a self punishment gene in farmers that we must be grateful to scrape by and if we make a bit on a lamb or a beast or a wagon load of wheat we should be apologetic. Do people on here think if the local independent selling say fireplaces or cars worries if they make a bob or two.
Is that for the years average or for the weeks highI know people who have these contracts and have told me.
We have been through this before, they won’t have it they know best, selling the rest of us down the shitter unnoted we stand divided we fall.
Ask what they were getting last Easter And summerThere are people on the Tesco cost of production contract at kepak they were getting £4.80/kg when we were getting £5.80/kg only a week ago
My neighbour had a dozen of them for a while.Over the course of the next year, they visited every farm for miles around.Rare breeds !!!!!!

How many years have you sold sheep for? How many years have you sold hoggs for?I'd like to know when in 92 it was £100 for hogs, and for how many. Cos if you're just quoting top prices from march April thats hardly like for like.
There's been top prices of £150 already this month, and everyone is talking March April prices up, so that puts rather a different slant on it.
Theres store lambs making £113 this month. What did store lambs make in early 92?
Lies, damn lies and statistics is the phrase that comes to mind.
Calm down bud, tha’s going too bust a blood vessel. How many years have you sold sheep for? How many years have you sold hoggs for?
Ive sold them for 31 years both hoggs and lambs and that’s both every year. I was selling sheep long before that too before I was in business myself so nearer 40 years.
There was a good year around that time as I remember sorting a batch of 400 in the auction race and I couldn’t believe the prices. Tups and odds and ends were making near around £80/£90 no decent sorts in amongst but well fed. Remember you are quoting £150s for hoggs but I don’t remember seeing numbers of Beltex hoggs in numbers and of weight back then. Did you?
I’m assuming stores weren’t exiting then or I wouldn’t have had as many hoggs. What’s your point?
And what’s your point in moaning about a lift in sheep prices?
Im intrigued in where you are heading with this and I actually really want to know.
Missed the boat springs to mind
Your not handling the correctly, my daughter's all come running to a bucket!Got them into holding pen yesterday by using the one dog to get them close to the pen and then got the other dog out to help get them in !
Hereford on Tuesday is their next trip !
I’ve actually added a bit on there too! Calculator wins here regardless of who likes it or notCalm down bud, tha’s going too bust a blood vessel.
What are Icelandic’s like? A friend has some but their all on the bucket with himTry Boraray they make Shetlands look like snails, but fantastic for giving the dogs a good run out

£100 in 1992 is worth £208 now
So even if lambs/hoggs were £50 in April 1992 that only makes them £104 now
I can’t help you any more
You can’t fix thick
You not got a head gasket to do?Heck I thought I was trading at a young age but you started at 6 ,you
must have been like that film Boss baby .

Exactly, they will freely admit they have had the cream for the last two years but the last couple of months and going forward till new season starts they will be back to evens,so swings and roundabouts I guess.Ask what they were getting last Easter And summer
The important thing with any buying/ selling/ hedging strategy is to decide on a strategy and stick to it. No-one consistently beats the market IMOExactly, they will freely admit they have had the cream for the last two years but the last couple of months and going forward till new season starts they will be back to evens,so swings and roundabouts I guess.
