They seem to be on fire at Carlisle. Two hoggs just gone through at £182. Good Texels 39s at £123. Looks like nearly 300p right through. Might hit £200 before April 15th @Northeastfarmer ?

going to have to get used to it , world prices I'm afraid , with BPS going , will have to be recent prices all the time , now the EU sub tit has gone , any future elms payments is for the farmer , not subbing big PLC supermarket chainsBakewell was back 11p 284. Auctioneer said lambs not as good this week and resistance from buyers.

Yep. Given stewardship schemes track record of promising the earth and then not paying the agreed amount on time I can’t see it being for me. What bit of BPS we’ve claimed this last few years can soon be replaced by upping production a small amount. Fatten another 1000 hoggs and as long as trade is sensible I’ll have the same amount left at the end without inspectors coming too see if I’ve moved any hedgerows.Elms payments are going to have to be earnt...not a free cash handout...thats the way i see it...many wont bother

Good trade but I do believe the top price was for 90 odd kg hogg.Prime hoggs to £180.50 at Exeter today.
Cull ewes to £189..
Trade was on fire in all rings and well up on the week, cull ewe trade averaged around £93 head ( up £8 on the week )
This trade will go up some more yet!
Deadweight prices today are well below liveweight prices for Hoggs/ cull ewes!

I believe the shoulders are only 10% of the value of the carcase but they have equal weight with the loin and gigot for grading.Like came, not much meat on the front end at all
Meadow quality reporting that one slaughterhouse has cut a days killing because they cannot source the cattle. They are also reporting some firms stocking up for a spell of freezing weather and snow around the second week of march!!Hearing on the prime cattle side that numbers are drying up fast and the general view is that the cattle just are not about and unlikely to be about either untill at least later in the year!
The snows lingering in the hedge backs around here, wouldnt be surprisedMeadow quality reporting that one slaughterhouse has cut a days killing because they cannot source the cattle. Thinking exactly the same here, going to be maximum production and not messing around growing flowers and planting trees!Yep.
