Some made 122, must have been fit to kill. Only had about 500 in will be drying up now. Grit ewes are very expensive, the right year to get out of them for sure.
I’m going too have too ask.

What on earth is a grit ewe???

Down here a grit ewe is a speckled faced, thick boned ewe with a penchant for rearing 1 lamb every other year and not making a particularly marvellous job of that one..

I’m guessing you MUST mean something different! 😂

Had these 350 SBF in today, the last bit of frost we had wiped out the turnip tops they were on so they’ve finished the bulbs much faster!
Quite a few are ready too draw but every year I lose my bottle and draw too soon at the blackies. I’ve moved them onto this

Until the 1st of April. Not ideal having too go back on grass but it’s dry and a fresh ryegrass reseed. Trying my best too hold my nerve and hang on until they have finished grazing before cashing them in.
Strange, the other green crop 3 miles up the road has 1050 hoggs on it now and you can’t tell there has even been a cold snap on it. 🤔🤔

On a positive note one of my grass men has asked if I want 50 acre of forage rape putting in after the wheat has been whole cropped. I managed too keep calm and reply “that sounds a good idea, I’m sure I can utilise it somehow” while the inner me was jumping up and down whistling and laughing while planning where I’m going too find more feeding ewes from... 🤔

Good job I’ve a few months too ponder on it!
