Iv no problem with folk watching there stock sold i get it some folk have nout better to do with theyre time... but I have a problem with people taking hours too unload sheep because they have too cuddle every other sheep and watch them all weighed individually then give them another cuddle before deciding it’s time too do there paperwork and leave ... unload your sheep and fudge off let the mart sort them out and email you the results then things run faster

@Poorbuthappy did not see his sheep sold today from the sound of it and thus by not being there when they were sold it cost him £160 quid just on four lambs, he may have spent 3 hours at market if he had waited to see them sold but are you really saying by rushing back home as quick as you can to do some work he would have earned an extra £53 an hour??? aye right!

You only sell your stock once!

What are you meant to do if they dont reach the prices you want/they should be? Stamp your feet and have a tantrum like Oliver Twist and ask for more please 🤷🏻‍♂️

Its not about what you can earn at home, if you've got work needing doing, cows calving, hogs lambing, can't be spending half a day in market.
I know that doesn't sit well with some people, but it's the reality of the situation, particularly this time of year.

Yep i agree with the above but i think vendors need to ensure their stock are sold as they want them sold which means that sometimes you need to stay at the market untill at least the sheep are sorted into the correct groups to sell and weighed accordingly even if they do not stay to see them sold.

I heard the opposite, nsl lamb numbers are in short supply and going to get dearer because of the weather / grass shortage and beef back 5p
Double the spring lambs in Welshpool today to the same week last year so no shortage there,,I believe they will come quicker as lack of grass gets their heads in the feeders and more people will creep feed with these higher prices

Not his fault for not being there that he had that issue it’s sedgemoor markets fault for having an auctioneer not worth his salt too stand up too the buyers...... .. I’d love too have half a day too stand around talking shite at market but in reality when iv been awake since 4am sorting lambs and start work at 8am and have sheep too check before work the last thing I can be arsed with is waiting around too see how my lambs are graded or weighed... I take my stock too the market I use because I trust there men too grade and I trust the auctioneer too sell my stock at there value, if he doesn’t I’ll find an auction that does

I totally agree its not PBH's fault for not being there and i totally agree no vendor should need to be there to see that their animals are sold as they want them sold/ are sold correctly but sadly that is not always the case.

I suppose that’s ok when you farm little boys land
Mid April to start lambing here unless you are very lightly stocked and want to have them either inside or relying on cake or both there isn’t much point in lambing earlier. Still it’s too late to hit good spring lamb prices before they cool off. A year like this approaching mid May and still no grass yet.
Amazing getting lessons how to farm here from someone who likely couldn’t.

Does it make much difference how high the farm is, if it's covered in feed hoppers and bought in fodder beet?;)
