No wonder they reckon feeding bulls are being bought to send up north!
Will they get bigger numbers in sales later in the year at Welshpool, which might be a straighter trade? When we used to go over there to buy ewe lambs years ago, I am sure numbers would have been well into 4 figuresi would not take to much notice to some of the prices of sheep down our way as it is you scratch my back and ill scratch yours
There was a time I had a lot sent regularly out of Ludlow they were cheap but not recentlyNo wonder they reckon feeding bulls are being bought to send up north!
There was over 5000 yearlings there today. The 510 were all from one farm- the report isn’t worded the best. Will they get bigger numbers in sales later in the year at Welshpool, which might be a straighter trade? It's the 2nd driest year on record for Scotland.
I would say its been a good year round here.no shortage of grass or crops.barley has done well as has wheat.Had the coldest, wettest, driest months on record in springtime.
Put cattle out they caught up with grass and it never got out in front again. Dads been feeding cows all summer. Luckily plenty cheap silage bales available. We won't discuss the quality.
It's pretty much stayed dry until past few weeks. Grass has seriously started growing now and getting out in front of them. Don't really understand why, hasn't been any significant amount of rain. Odd days with 3 or 4mm. Plenty damp mornings. Wonder if that's been enough. Would say we are getting our spring flush of grass in September! You know the one the grazing experts tell you to get cows out in April to take advantage of!
Spring sown barley yields been poor due to weather too. Not much straw or grain.
Same here, once we got out of May the last three months have been as good weather wise as I can remember heat and moisture.I would say its been a good year round here.no shortage of grass or crops.barley has done well as has wheat.
He's missed off the words at the bottom - it should read,
It certainly wouldn’t be my chequebook after last week and this!View attachment 984573
He's missed off the words at the bottom - it should read,
"Is that the fella that goes to the mart? "
..then the pic....
..and then.....
"Is that his chequebook in his pocket or is he just pleased to see us?"
So that means your pleased to see em, "What goes on in Stirling, stays in Stirling"????It certainly wouldn’t be my chequebook after last week and this!
