What weight would the big lambs be?We had alot of good runners from £100 to £118, one pen of 15 very small lambs £79. Think its our bigger lambs I'm a bit disappointed with £122 to £140

Dunno really, must of been towards 50 kg though hadn't weighed any of our gimmers for a whileWhat weight would the big lambs be?
Is that because the markets went dearer ehABP have jumped their lamb price to 5.10 now from 4.95
How come dead weight for cows have dropped so much yet when you look at adhb on there cows don't seem to of dropped much if anything stronger this week?Is that because the markets went dearer eh
Because the are trying it on !!!How come dead weight for cows have dropped so much yet when you look at adhb on there cows don't seem to of dropped much if anything stronger this week?
Dont bank on it barley is £170 plus and all other costs have eroded into the marginBit light, take them to 8-9mths and 300+kg. With the beef price where it is i think trade will be and should be mental, we annual autumn sellers havent had our bananza and share of the high beef price pie yet so im hoping the buyers have put some of the fantastic beef price returns aside ready to reward us breeders. Without us there will not be any in-spec cattle to finish! Beef price last year during the autumn sales was about 365ppk , now its 400+ppk .
I see, so do think they will come back up? Sooner than normal?Because the are trying it on !!!
Plenty of demand but struggling to kill and bone them at Dunbia…they pulled price and the rest followed
I don’t think you have been robbed if they are below 50kg. But a lot of faffing with them compared to weighing them inDunno really, must of been towards 50 kg though hadn't weighed any of our gimmers for a while
On this weeks fat prices good suckler bulls are putting £5-6/day on their backs so a finisher ration @ £250 isn’t a problemDont bank on it barley is £170 plus and all other costs have eroded into the margin
Not til new year I’d say…the will be on clean for Christmas and cows will take a back seat..just what I think though and what do I knowI see, so do think they will come back up? Sooner than normal?
Tbf alot of finishers grow there own and have had great crops this year unlike last year and we breeders suffer the ups and downs of costs just the same so sob stories arent going to wash.Dont bank on it barley is £170 plus and all other costs have eroded into the margin
There wasn't owt wrong with yours, most would of sold well didn't they?? I was meaning some of the others many which were that breed I hardly dare mention on here or draw a picture of and the better sorts were £100+ dearer than elsewhere at the moment. One mans average is another’s top end. You just leave us lesser mortals alone to fight over the scraps
Not round here they don't, I could take you onto half dozen farms within 10 mile of me all using at least 10 tonne a day all bought.Tbf alot of finishers grow there own and have had great crops this year unlike last year and we breeders suffer the ups and downs of costs just the same so sob stories arent going to wash.
I watched a bit and although I haven’t been to any sales I thought they were a delicate tradeJust got back from Lazonby, we went through about 5 ish and to be honest I'm a bit disappointed. Averaged £109.50, 1st 2 pens £140, someone said afterwards those 2 pens should of been more like £180. 1st 2 hours is the best trade usually at that sale, might split them up next year and try some somewhere else.
It's always the busiest store ring that I go to in terms of folk around the ring and in the seats, probably why I don't go very oftenWas only gently ribbing you. I agree, pulled a chancy one out it was doing really well so it will keep. The two blues went from £820 to £1080 in eight weeks, and came out of there to start with! £1080 must be my price, they nearly all ended up at that . Two faces back after absence pushing the trade
I think the short term cattle will be a very good trade and the younger ones will be bought with a lot of cautionTbf alot of finishers grow there own and have had great crops this year unlike last year and we breeders suffer the ups and downs of costs just the same so sob stories arent going to wash.
Didn’t see that many ewes sold but shearlings were £200 plus for anything decent and never saw a ewe under a hundred no matter how old it was.Second that. Think there where some 4/5 crop Cheviot from a shearling seller. Would be interested to know what they made
Oooohh get you, top of the pops again!! Wonder if you’ll get mentioned in there news letter as the expert finisher from Cheshire??Finished lambs a bloody good trade in Bentham tonight mine topped at £3.25/kg texel/beltex on the Cheviot mule
