Bit light, take them to 8-9mths and 300+kg. With the beef price where it is i think trade will be and should be mental, we annual autumn sellers havent had our bananza and share of the high beef price pie yet so im hoping the buyers have put some of the fantastic beef price returns aside ready to reward us breeders. Without us there will not be any in-spec cattle to finish! Beef price last year during the autumn sales was about 365ppk , now its 400+ppk .
Dont bank on it barley is £170 plus and all other costs have eroded into the margin

One mans average is another’s top end. You just leave us lesser mortals alone to fight over the scraps 😉🤣
There wasn't owt wrong with yours, most would of sold well didn't they?? I was meaning some of the others many which were that breed I hardly dare mention on here or draw a picture of :X3: :X3: :X3: :X3: and the better sorts were £100+ dearer than elsewhere at the moment.

Tbf alot of finishers grow there own and have had great crops this year unlike last year and we breeders suffer the ups and downs of costs just the same so sob stories arent going to wash.
Not round here they don't, I could take you onto half dozen farms within 10 mile of me all using at least 10 tonne a day all bought.
barley delivered to farm today £186, wheat sold to local mill today £199

Just got back from Lazonby, we went through about 5 ish and to be honest I'm a bit disappointed. Averaged £109.50, 1st 2 pens £140, someone said afterwards those 2 pens should of been more like £180. 1st 2 hours is the best trade usually at that sale, might split them up next year and try some somewhere else.
I watched a bit and although I haven’t been to any sales I thought they were a delicate trade
Runners in some cases looked cheap especially later on
They were definitely less money as time went on some lots around 5 ish I couldn’t make arse nor end of the trade some had £60 per head difference and I couldn’t see where that gap was at

Was only gently ribbing you. I agree, pulled a chancy one out it was doing really well so it will keep. The two blues went from £820 to £1080 in eight weeks, and came out of there to start with! £1080 must be my price, they nearly all ended up at that 🤔. Two faces back after absence pushing the trade
It's always the busiest store ring that I go to in terms of folk around the ring and in the seats, probably why I don't go very often 😂

I think the short term cattle will be a very good trade and the younger ones will be bought with a lot of caution

Second that. Think there where some 4/5 crop Cheviot from a shearling seller. Would be interested to know what they made
Didn’t see that many ewes sold but shearlings were £200 plus for anything decent and never saw a ewe under a hundred no matter how old it was.
tips on the other hand were hard to sell, the odd special one getting into for figures but a decent tip could be bought for £500 with a lot in the £350 to £550 bracket.
The car park was ridiculous with early arrivals parking with no common sense then those arriving later abandoning vehicles all over the place, leaving some very irate wagon drivers.
came home with three boys averaging £400 so very pleased with my days work and very glad I breed my own ewes
