Not if you rove about a bit and be patient…There's not enough of them to go round though, thats why they're so expensive

There has definitely been a shift this year back too the mule from the texel crosses from what I’ve seen. Mediocre texel x shearlings that have sold well this last couple of years have been down below spring Hogg value.Well it would seem this year that they have and come back to buy NoE mule, that why they've caught up a bit again price wise, even though theres 000s more of them
They’ve looked bloody dear compared too store cattle all year!Little calves will be very dear in 3 weeks wont they?
Saw a bit of j36 trade on the screen, good suckled calves looked a very good trade, werent so big either! They’ve looked bloody dear compared too store cattle all year!
Nothing frumpy about meThat's where I know you from?!?!?
You're Frumpybutlovely100 aren't you.... I'm Mummyneedsavodka
They were decent lim crosses and fed @ over 300 kg and only hitting 700 for bullocks and 650 heifers . Pen of good lim x hfrs 275kgs only 590 . I wasn’t talking about the shyteThose cattle are never going to grow into big cattle though, looking at the report the majority are only 250kgs. People are getting wise as to what cattle will hit the weights and specs for top fat prices and sucklerbred 250kg weanlings arent them. They made what they were worth by the looks to me. Farmers cant expect to keep cows that look like mountain goats and then expect to sell calves out from them for big money.
The man who had a lot in had a hell of a trade, 1 man came and bought all his best bullocks, some would be 5-6 month 280kg-300kg £1020-£1080!!!!!!Saw a bit of j36 trade on the screen, good suckled calves looked a very good trade, werent so big either!
Last sale they were sensible money.Kirby cattle exempt or last to drop
I wouldn’t bother, man I work for buys a lot from Alston moor and penrith, penrith are alway £5 cheaper imo for the same lambs.Oh well, can't blame me for trying, might try a few at Penrith next year
Always said smaller they are the dearer they areThey’ve looked bloody dear compared too store cattle all year!
Thanks for that advice, definitely worth knowingI wouldn’t bother, man I work for buys a lot from Alston moor and penrith, penrith are alway £5 cheaper imo for the same lambs.
Yes, a “shite” button on here would probably be very well usedVery rarely look in,trying to filter the shite on here takes some doing.
Selling at Hexham?Just had a friend on the phone , another six herds of sucklers in Northumberland getting dispersed this month.
Presume so .Selling at Hexham?
Most are all genuine retirement or ill health/operations or both.Presume so .
Ive no doubt , same conclusion though, will they be replaced ?Most are all genuine retirement or ill health/operations or both.
Same up here 4 dispersals scheduled for Dingwall next month.all age or health related but they won’t be replaced, being replaced by cropping or a few sheep.Ive no doubt , same conclusion though, will they be replaced ?
With the price of barley where it is, pellets might be better buy? Bought some the other day £20 dearer than last year but lesser specNo idea but I know a fair few who do it, I have 40 entire lambs left I’m thinking might come in next week on barley and oats
Was just thinking the same. With Barley approaching £200,Davidsons are quoting £262-£285 depending on quality.By the time you crush the barley and add something to it,there is not much in it. Will be interesting to see if the feed mills manage to hold their winter price runs through to Spring this season. With the price of barley where it is, pellets might be better buy? came to that conclusion last winter , always fed straights in the past , usually added maize distillers to barley , but lack of MD and cost soya and barley , made it a no brainer at £245T for pelletsWas just thinking the same.
