Some folks just sell at the same sales every year regardless of what the trade is like"Marketing, bloody marketing that's some else job!" said 95% of farmers!
Most can't even be bothered to run the clippers over there shity arse store lambs let alone sell them into a market that they would be better in or even lot them into groups that buyers want!
Selling store here and really have no control over the trade on the day, if you were to start chopping and changing it really would be pot luck as to how well you hit the good days. Last year I sold at an earlier sale and was £6-10 up on the sale the week after, sold again early this year but would have probably been the same up if I had waited til later, there really is no knowing, and when you’re 2.5hrs from the mart you can’t really be nipping back and forth all season with a trailer to this one and a trailer to that one, they all go off on the float and you’re delighted to see them off the place. Some folks just sell at the same sales every year regardless of what the trade is like
Yep mate of mine just starting to sell fat lambs now cos thats what he always done regardless of the trade all yearSome folks just sell at the same sales every year regardless of what the trade is like
Trade a bit better in Welshpool this morning, as well as the weighbridge working properly.
Pen of 7 was Exlana & their crosses, the rest Charollais X. Another draw next week, then grass will be about done f
To be fair to the Exlanas they handle ok over their loins (for a maternal), although lacking of hindquarter.

The auctioneers ring me most weeks for a bit crack to see what’s going on and what’s the best plan to market stock, when they don’t ring i ring them. Is that what you do too?Selling store here and really have no control over the trade on the day, if you were to start chopping and changing it really would be pot luck as to how well you hit the good days. Nope don’t hear a word from them. The auctioneers ring me most weeks for a bit crack to see what’s going on and what’s the best plan to market stock, when they don’t ring i ring them. Is that what you do too?
I would be pretty against paying commission to a mart company that doesn’t even have the list to ring you upNope don’t hear a word from them.
Cattle took a lift at Penrith today tooJust seen darlington suckled calf report....some vendors over £100 up on the year.
Very misleading what we read on this forum sometimes about trade being in the doldrums!
Why is it normal for the auctioneer to phone every week?I would be pretty against paying commission to a mart company that doesn’t even have the list to ring you up
Maybe they don’t like you?Why is it normal for the auctioneer to phone every week?
I've never had one phone me. How would they find time to call everyone

So are the exlana's better than you thought they'd be ? Or aren't your Charollais as good as you make out ?Trade a bit better in Welshpool this morning, as well as the weighbridge working properly.

I’ll suggest itI would be pretty against paying commission to a mart company that doesn’t even have the list to ring you up
Can’t see any auctioneers round here telling you that there going to be a bad trade and don’t fetch them. All the reports seam to read “more could be sold to vendors advantage”Beggars belief that anyone could arse on breeding something for a year or two years up to sale and can’t be bothered to ring up before sale days!!
but heifers were only up £2 on average on the year may have been a little lighter thoughJust seen darlington suckled calf report....some vendors over £100 up on the year.
