I don’t know of him so won’t pass comment on him, but on your ‘dealers’ comment…

Does nobody remember 2001, when F&M was spread from the NE, through Longtown, down to mid-Wales, Devon, Oxfordshire, etc, all by dealers buying and shipping nationwide?

It seems memories have faded already.:(
my memory was selling charollais rams at lockerbie in the early 80s , a good 8-9 hr trip from here , a lorry turned up and unloaded a load of poll dorsets with week old lambs up from the south everything was green , worst part was they didnt sell and were loaded back up as we left , that sight still haunts me now . If anything i thank the EU regs that its not so easy to do these days

Anonymous question please.
Is anyone having difficulties getting space for weaning draft at the works? We’ve just been informed that for our weaning draft on Tuesday Alliance only has space for 300 lambs! Not bloody happy. Have to bring sheep and lambs in seperate mobs and be prepared to put most back in the paddock.
Other than being stuffed around on our weaning draft which has never happens before; our concern is the flow on effect this will have for all sheep farmers. It doesn’t bode well, especially as we’ve been told there’s a major shortage of chilled containers for exports.

Are Frosts from Northampton still buying cattle from all over?
Used to see the old man (Tim?) Frost quite a lot and he was friends with my dad years ago. They have a block of land down this way they would put cattle in until they had a lorry load to go home with
Had 4 strong steers off me last week out of Monmouthshire market.

A staggering price for those two of course, but the average is surely more telling of the trade anywhere?
With sqq at 265-270p, that’s a long way short of £205 back in the real world.

Yes still buying. David Collins shifts a lot of their cattle out of Wales. Often in the same lorry when we're buying down that way.
