Is there much turkey sold apart from the Christmas job?
How are you coping with the weather? I had my quad bike stolen Thursday night/Friday morning.Couldnt have come at a worse time. Looks like i have lost a big Texel tup lamb under a fallen Beech tree.Cant even get in there to remove it.Guess it could have been worse and more of them. Trees down all over, the bigger they were, the more of them.

We are dealing with supply v demand
Saw this in FG. Morrison’s take on beef pricing

They won’t be planning on paying more any time soon and passing it on to the consumer by that..

What they want to do and what they have to do are two differrent things supply and demand
That is supply and demand. They supplied it at an increased price and demand dropped leaving them then oversupplied themselves. I don’t like it anymore than you, and if they really can’t get staff like they say they will be looking to drop kill numbers if anything so won’t be chasing them.

It’s all about footfall and thankfully red meat is one of the items that attracts footfall.

If they would take a bit less margin out of them it would sell

Hexham and Northern marts sold a catalogued entry of 5643 store lambs which included over 1000 Hill and Mule lambs. All classes sold to a tremendous trade.

Topping the sale at £180 was a sublime pair of Beltex cross lambs from Messrs P & E B Robson, Middle Horsleyhope. Messrs N & G Gray, Low Espley sold another excellent pair of Beltex cross lambs this time for £170.

Middle Horsleyhope sold Suffolk cross lambs to £148.

Hill lambs sold to an amzing trade topping at £112 for Cheviots from R S Mackay Farming, Witton.

Blackface lambs topped at £97 twice firstly from Messrs R G & L A Grieve, Whiteside, then a pen of 26 from Mr G D Herdman, Edlingham Demesne who also sold a pen of 100 for £90.

Swaledale lambs also sold very well to a top of £89.50 for a pen of 16 from J P & F Scott, Westburnhope.

More wanted to meet the demand.
