It looks a pretty cr*p place to have cattle out just now though.

To be brutally honest I would have happily sold the whole lot to buy a proper farm on Saturday morning or planting the place with trees didn’t look a bad idea but that thought has passed now

Oi, steady on! I had to put my gloves on this morning to move fences….. for a while anyway.
I even thought it wise to put some antifreeze through the sprayer yesterday afternoon, just in case.

We can cope with the snow ok here it’s the wind that causes all the bother. 70 plus mph winds on Friday night not great. There’s only a few inches of snow but the stower has been unbelievable

Don't mind either snow or wind.problem for us was the wind came from the north/east.so hit all the trees on the weak side with the shallow roots.got a few wind blown plantations now, just a mess.

Same here. The plantation in the photo is a mess with trees down will have to be felled now the wind is into it now next lot will take a lot more out. I wasn’t in a rush to fell it yet

On the plus side the mrs appeared with a betacraft coat a fortnight ago for me I nearly had a heart attack when she told me what it cost worth every penny now

My old man used to tell me the trick of wintering sheep was a plan B and watch the weather like a hawk ,(gavs weather) We would spend days putting a few bales of hay in odd places sheeted down on pallets , You did good

You are right everything since Thursday has been plan b but it seems to be the way to go at the moment anyway

How i know is because all the cobwebs have blown out of the airvents in my northfacing bathroom wall into the bathroom, med a right mess, been here 20 yr and its never done that before, so figured wind musta been out of a rare direction with that force.
Havnt had it as bad as @livestock 1 here....just blew mi a few cobwebs in

It must be.we had 100mph gusts 10 years ago or so an it wasn't anywhere near as bad.

The place is like devastation the poles and wires down everywhere it’s going to take some time to sort out. More electric poles fell down today

funny that it was all hardwood trees around here that got it , mostly big Beech trees , loads of dodgy ash trees untouched .

4” of grass cover over the whole farm has gone black and disappeared. Neighbour was heading out on the lawn mower this morning as his grass was very tall on Thursday, lowest setting wouldn’t cut it today after the storm yesterday.

Big store sale at ua stirling today around 9000 lmbs.

Loaded some lambs yesterday, glad we battled through the snow and fallen trees to meet the lorry!
I know they are heavy, meant to have been away a week /10 days ago.
