What will it make creep then?
Just as a reference organic has been circa £500/tonne for a few years and conventional last June was £282/tonne, Organic was £501, now that’s Eye watering and hence why I don’t creep and if I do give anything it’s usually left over whole oats that didn’t fit on the trailers…

Just so you are aware price difference between Organic and Conventional lambs is usually around 30p/kg or on an 18kg lamb it’s £5.40 difference.

£500/tonne.................???? Now that makes me scratch where it doesn't itch....!

Red hot trade for stirks at Sedge today, some super runs of well bred 9/10 month old suckler bred steers making anything from £860 to £1210 head..

Trade would be up £100/150 head on pre xmas levels.

There was only a few young cattle in Ludlow Friday & I couldn't touch them.....

Not our problem if the supply chain after the farm gate has very high costs, they should do what EVERY other industry does ( with the exception of farming ) and that is pass these costs UP the chain and not down the chain back to farmers!

I totally agree but it’s when the consumer stops buying then it costs everyone

Couldn't agree more. When Dunbia and Co are trying to push lamb price down to £5.50 (wtf?) No one should be delivering to them. Equally, it is our own responsibility not to present under finished lambs into the fat ring - put them through the stores! Nothing drags trade down more. I wish more markets had someone on site to put their hand over stock and point them in the correct direction.

I’ve seen folks try this before. Cut fert on year one relatively unscathed next year is a different story. I agree that we will all mainly buy less but there’s a point when less costs more. I’ve tried it it doesn’t work

Especially if you cut back on the proven man as well. A shed full of fattening cattle makes a world of difference to an upland farm

Well fleshed, shed lambs, so I’d have hoped they’d be all of that….. anywhere but Kepak anyway.

And yes, my I immediate reaction was that they’d have been better into Llani.

Hoggs sticky at lanark, probably average 260 odd, but ewes are very dear, but heavy hoggs very poor.
