Ewes a nice trade in Bentham tonight. Had a sweep up of those that have been on hoppers for a month. Good ewes a good price, £91.50’s for mules £107.50 for Suffolk mules that just won’t get past 1/2 meat. Good meat blackies £70 and sweepings blackies £51.
Place is rammed with hoggs, going too be a late night.

Long periods of time no body was allowed in to marts to sell. I'd guess some would leave directions re. luck at the office but most would do like me - drop and go, and then get paid.

It's no secret - no giving luck made no difference to my trade
Same story here no luck given now , two years not doing it now stock sells as good as ever, had a couple of grumbles of buyers but soon point out how much commission is coming of my top line before having to hand them cash in pocket . If they don’t want to bid again that’s no problem to me there’s another half dozen men who will run them on just the same. If I sell a good amount of cattle one day it costs me a whole beast in commission at times.
