I’d rather of not have the £500 also but it’s happened f**k all I could do about it so I was more than happy to exploit the situation… would do the public some good too walk a mile in our shoes for a change so frankly I couldn’t care less what’s said on a public forum it’s the reality of the job
I don't blame you at all for charging well and indeed would encourage that in order to stress the seriousness of the situation.
Just felt the tone of your post was rather flippant and sounded as though you couldn't care about the situation cos you'd had a good payout. I dare say you didn't mean it to but I thought it warranted saying.

Local Bobby told me 4 years since after we’d had a lot of trouble in the area. “Best thing you can do is one of the local farmers shoot one and let us know. We will plaster it all over Facebook and people will take note of that! About a month after I obliged. That was a proper nasty one though 😰 I sure as hell wasn’t going near it.
Local copper told us to just shoot the dogs when we were getting a lot of trouble with sheep being ripped apart a few years ago

Right, let’s draw a line under this episode. I’ve had my 3 disasters in a weekend now. It can only get better. Hoggs will start the week 10ppk above last week and climb by 8ppk a day until Thursday when they will jump 21ppk at 11.30am. On Friday… well I won’t be very bothered then but be nice if they start the climb ready for the week after!

Could you arrange the 21ppk lift on Thursday to be an hour earlier please as Thirsk will be selling by about 10.30ish. Ta.

There will be a copy of the letter in number 10 by Wed this week !!
Tbf if George Eustice hasnt realised by now what state the country will be in, then this letter isnt going to make a jot of difference. The likes of bill wiggin "farms" in herefordshire and has probably had this issue pointed out to him numerous times but you might as well whistle sweet dixie as hope for him to see sense. The duchy is also taking back hundreds of acres from farmers in herefordshire with many given notice to vacate some land within 12 mths so that trees can be planted . Prince charles can then proclaim to be carbon neutral!

The letter may or may not make a jot of difference on its own but in my view it's far better to be active and do something than to sit back and do nothing . Bill Wiggin is very outspoken on Ag issues and once again I still think it's better to say something than nothing .

British Ag is in the position it is because too many who 'represent farming' have not and do not speak out when they should because they are more interested in their position . That leaves the 'everyday ' farm or farm related industry' to do what they can when they can ....hence why I think getting Richard Hydes letter and other material in front of number 10 and to the PM is quite important .😊

I was reading the other day the EU are now scrapping the 10% of land they wanted farmers to take out of production for environmental works to fully support food production.

I'm affraid it really is looking like a total disaster for us farmers leaving the protection of the EU & putting our lot in charge of us.......
Yes I know bla bla we gotta get on with it but Surely all the farmers must be seriously regretting that decision now back in 2016......
