I dont it was disgusting way of paying farmers bps is no better , but circumstances have changed and looks like food is going to get very tight so they need to help folk to produce now as they have ran the majority of livestock places about into the ground it takes money to turn that around .

Chatting to a 'experienced' dairy farmer yesterday ( started with 13 cows in 1966 over 900 now so he has seen a bit) and he said that only fools and farm managers buy calves this time of year!

Money need to get into the hands of producers , how i dont know , but getting paid just cos you have an acre is no good folk producing naff all getting 100s thousands is not good when folk are going to go hungry. As for capital grants just makes things expensive and dosnt really up production much if any.

All very well but the grant is only usually 50% max of the cost. If nobody has any money they can’t afford to stump up the other 50% so can’t take advantage of them. India have banned all wheat exports this morning apparently so if you thought inputs are crippling cash flow now wait till a month or two. That Monday meeting with the feed rep for forward pricing somebody had booked might just be cancelled..

It will but if the livestock sector gets ground down to the bottom with high feed fert fuel costs , even if prices go up a fair bit it will take a lot to come back from that …. The government need to act now imo it will take years ….

My pal won’t use digestate, says it kills all the worms? He seen a field spread with it and there was a mineral bucket left and underneath it was a mass of worms trying to get away from the stuff

AD plant just along the road , I’ve never taken it before though, not sure why

Yes. Slurry can be like that as well though if it's quite wet at the surface and worms are just at the top. If it's dry they go down deeper into the soil and it won't affect them.
