Just keep chugging along like we always do what will be will be 😅 on another note… how’s your day going I hear you ask??
Ripped the tow bar off my hilux last night, finished weighing lambs at 1am this morning using a mates transit van too cart them home for the night… then used the mrs Nissan X trail too take them too market, nearly died atleast 10 times on the journey, 20 ewes and 30
Lambs was a touch too much for her steering was optional…
Just as I pulled on the dock too unload I got a phone call off the police too say my sheep were running riot… followed by a very angry dairy farmer that the police had turned them into his silage fields which no look like they’ve been flat rolled 😭😭😭 I f**king hate sheep 😭😭😭
one of my landlords (arable farmer) said he reconed sheep farmers he knows , were hard as hell , told him its just resilience, its always something that will make or brake you , lol all the softies sell up pretty quick

Something is going to give soon surely

Unfortunately I think it's going to take a while to filter through. Supply is outstripping demand at the moment. This coming autumn will be the deciding factor, whether the arable boys have gambled and bought fertiliser for sowing next year's crops or the livestock sector digging deep to pay the feed bill for the winter. I just hope that prices don't drop, in which case a lot of farmers are going to say "Fxxk it".
The government will try and buy in food but not realising that every other country will be in the same position.

Wheat futures up £15/t today. Now £350/t. When are finished prices going to increase.

Paying £330/t for bruised barley for finishers. 10k heap doesn't look very big and isn't going to last very long.
Work on £400 ton for barley next winter and you will not be far off the mark i suspect.

Question : Do you cost the home grown grain in at COP or what its worth sold off the farm??

Too farm sheep Youv Definatly got too be able too handle your fair share of disasters that’s for sure… taking my truck too a fabricator tomorrow too see if he can do something with it, it’s ripped the chassis rail in half so I’m sceptical he can do anything with it that I’d feel safe towing a load of sheep with tbh but he’s confident he’ll be able too make it stronger than it was

Africa here she comes
Will see what it looks like when he played and welds it up, I did a 4 year apprenticeship and 4 years qualified as a fabricator when I first left school and I Wouldn’t really want too do it but he seems confident he’ll make it stronger than it ever was… if it doesn’t look safe I’ll take the tow bar off and sell it as a “new towed” pickup 😅
