I absolutely agree with all the ^^^ above.

However the GP will not be buying beef at the current quantity because they simply cannot afford it.
You say that but the takeaway/farm shop beside Sedge market on Sat was packed out to the point you could not get in the car park with people buying high quality/expensive beef/lamb/ pork and takeaways as well..

I read this morning several economists are predicting mass culls of all types of livestock purely because we won’t be able to feed them, so the reality of the situation is known to civil servants, it is just being ignored. They are who really run the country, ministers only rely on their information to make decisions but they are all driven by their own agendas/backhanders. Yes Prime Minister is as scarily close to the truth now as it was in the eighties when it was made.

Do not forget that Boris and princess nut nuts etc want to see the end of UK livestock production thus why they will not help the livestock industry!

They are only paying some of the BPS early so arable farmers will go out and buy very expensive fert in the summer/ early autumn in the months they would normally buy their fert!

She does, he just wants to keep his arse on the throne. He changes his mind as often as his socks. As Prime Minister there will be so many balls in the air you have to delegate. There lies the problem, George Eustice and who is whispering in his ear...

Depends where your based I suppose.

We are normally applying N to winter crops early March as they are starting to grow again.

I believe many areas the grass hardly stops growing. Winters seem to be getting milder and dryer. Wouldn't say we had a winter this year in NE Scotland.

If store lambs look cheap will probably buy again though. 🤷‍♂️

Farmings becoming more and more like gambling. Just the stakes are getting higher.
Our winters are definitely getting milder down here. But much much wetter!

And we probably will to agree
Not sure on that tbh!

Certainly on the beef side i do not think many farmers will ( and that is already being seen both in sucklers and some large scale finishers not replacing cattle as they sell prime cattle.

On the sheep, no end of people are talking about either cutting ewe numbers or stopping lambing altogether as the returns due not warrant all the hard work/hassle of lambing sheep and that is both early and late lambing flocks.

Dairy farmers are quitting faster than the auctioneers can sell the cows, two more herds near to me are going this week, another has said his herd is going as soon as he gets a clear TB test, another has said he is thinking of quitting ( which means he will for sure as once you start thinking like that they always quit ) .

And in previous years there has always been a lot of young go getter young farmers keen to start farming but these people seem to have gone very quiet lately and few seem that intrested in starting farming !
