I agree with your thoughts on the lamb trade, it would be helpful if we could have a bit more for all our effort, especially when the price of inputs is where it is! The fire emoji was for the ewe trade, with the price of culls where it is, it certainly helps towards the price of replacements!! Ewes now travelling from afar to get to Bridgnorth to take advantage of buyer support in this category!!Sounds like a good trade on the day for your lambs but certainly not anywhere near enough now with the costs of inputs across the board.
Same as over here then?with cereals at the price they are they can’t afford to feed the cattle to finish them.
Don’t think it’s quite reached that stage here ,or has it ?Same as over here then?
Well unless beef goes up it won’t be far offDon’t think it’s quite reached that stage here ,or has it ?
There’s certainly something unusual going on in the beef trade at the moment ,the Irish price is on a par if not ahead of ours and last weeks kill in Ireland was 70,000 head up on the same week last year. Strange times indeed.Well unless beef goes up it won’t be far off
There’s probably no polish beef entering Ireland atm…There’s certainly something unusual going on in the beef trade at the moment ,the Irish price is on a par if not ahead of ours and last weeks kill in Ireland was 70,000 head up on the same week last year. Strange times indeed.
Will any of them be dairy bred stuff? There’s certainly something unusual going on in the beef trade at the moment ,the Irish price is on a par if not ahead of ours and last weeks kill in Ireland was 70,000 head up on the same week last year. Strange times indeed.
Probably but the point is that even with that increased kill the price is still rising. Will any of them be dairy bred stuff?
No the same as there’s none coming into this country , the boy I was speaking to had been told this by one of the Smithfield traders. There’s probably no polish beef entering Ireland atm…
The whole thing is fubar!Probably but the point is that even with that increased kill the price is still rising.
Can’t see Poland keeping that going for longI would not hold out for any hope of Gov help for the beef and sheep sectors!
They have made it clear for some time that they do not want meat livestock production in the UK !
But at the same time today the supermarkets are saying they will need to import eggs from Poland as UK farmers cannot meet demand... Which translates in the real world to : The supermarkets are refusing to pay a price to UK egg producers that covers their costs and gives them a profit so the only option left to UK farmers is not to restock when their sheds are cleared out at the end of the cycle.

If they can't afford to finish cattle because of the price of cereals how rhe hell are the polish farmers making money on the eggs to be able to export them here? Or are they getting screwed even harder on those?Heard tonight that it’s lack of Eastern European beef coming into the country that’s driving the cow trade with cereals at the price they are they can’t afford to feed the cattle to finish them.
Irish clean base £4.62 that’s in pounds not eurosThere’s certainly something unusual going on in the beef trade at the moment ,the Irish price is on a par if not ahead of ours and last weeks kill in Ireland was 70,000 head up on the same week last year. Strange times indeed.
