If you can afford not to sell any stock for over a year then you’ve either won the lottery or live like a caveman
no neither of those so wrong again.
I don't think I have ever sold stock because I desperately needed the money, sold plenty for less than I would like or even at a loss but as @Mc115reed alluded to sometimes you have to think what else are you going to do with them if you don't sell.

It must be nice to be as financially well off as you are….unfortunately and unashamedly we need to sell on a regular basis as the invoices don’t stop appearing in the letterbox

Like the oil tankers?

Do OPEC not control oil supply worldwide. They simply leave the oil in tankers and restrict supply until price rises. You would almost think the price in the UK is higher than other countries that's why there hoping to unload here.🤣

Think I suggested limiting supply a few pages back, but was shot down.🤔
There has been a lack of other credible suggestions though

So you cant keep them till next year then,as you dont have enough winter housing?
would struggle to keep everything we have now plus the new calves we will hopefully have by winter over winter yes that is the main constraint, that said we haven't been up to capacity for a few winters now

No they don't
as for financially well off I could with a fair bit of confidence say that my net worth would be less than a lot of others on this thread, that said business wise we are not and haven't been for a long time hand to mouth but its not a very big business in terms of turnover

The question is when is it going to go bang, we can,t be far off now, this must be getting testing for many businesses of all types, prices will continue to rise with fuel going up ,
yes you can't keep buying dear and selling cheap indefinitely, so lets have an alternative ? we seem to have ruled out not selling so what ? it seems clear that something needs to be done about putting selling prices up or lowering the cost of inputs, any ideas anyone ?

Talking to a few non farming suppliers they reckon alot of their construction customers have enough work rest of this year, after that no work coming in its dried up , my prediction is january onwards things will not be good …

Not really.in an ideal world we just shut the gates but we all know it's not gonna make a difference.

I'm going back on what I've said now!🤦‍♂️

But even if you restrict supply the lamb, fat beast is ultimately going to end up at the slaughterhouse isn't it?

It's not as though we have a alternative market and can sell it for another use.

From that perspective the only way to limit supply is put less to the bull and cull breeding stock.

And the trade of culls never a better time than now !!
