Probably pneumonia with the heat or black legAlways the best one as well
And there was me thinking I had a crap morning breaking a brand new comb after 40 ewes and one ewe with black bag. What a shitty thing to find.Pride comes before a fall. One minute looking grand the next morning stone dead for no apparent reason . What a c*nt of a morning.

Regen or Rewild ?Finished shearing ours a couple days ago (late this year) turned them in here View attachment 1045063
I can only do a few at a time before my back starts to feel it and I am very slow but still another job done.
It’s hard to get that right I always used to shear the culls to tidy them up before they went and often the wooled ones were making more up hereIt said on the Hereford report this week that unshorn ewes are discounted, this would suggest to me that these dear culls are being grazed, take a brave man to graze £120 cull mules this time of year wouldn’t it.
I shear them all bar the real dogs. 4 weeks ago had some fat ewes in when theee where next to no shorn ewes and would have been better with the wool on because you could see how much fat was on them. It’s hard to get that right I always used to shear the culls to tidy them up before they went and often the wooled ones were making more up here
Yes we do that with hoggs and ewes just the same the wool covers up a multitude of sinsI shear them all bar the real dogs. 4 weeks ago had some fat ewes in when theee where next to no shorn ewes and would have been better with the wool on because you could see how much fat was on them.
Its to do with them getting too hot during transport and in lairage if they are full of woolIt said on the Hereford report this week that unshorn ewes are discounted
So sorry for you...Pride comes before a fall. One minute looking grand the next morning stone dead for no apparent reason . What a c*nt of a morning.

Better than a death in the house. So sorry for you...
How often do your cattle get in the house, they must make one hell of a mess.Better than one in the house.
no good dwelling on deadstock
Better than family or a friend. How often do your cattle get in the house, they must make one hell of a mess.
That’s what mother always says when I have a moanBetter than family or a friend.
What breed of welsh? I find small welsh will do 150’s, glamorgans will do 185%, brokers I buy in always do more than the ones I buy as ewe lambs from the same farm which sit around the 160 mark. To be fair though they wean near what they scan if you can stop them getting twin lamb. Not great because the get to fat, ones that come in lean as 3-4 crop ewes do 140% but the fat ones that have been here a while only do 120%, you just can’t keep them hard enough.
They came out of that unpronounceable place in north Wales beginning with d. I’m happy how they scan though, better a load of singles than having for feed them anything. Mine done get any form of feed just what they can pull. What breed of welsh?
