I think they wouldn’t sell it to the supermarkets below a certain price due to costs of production which meant a better price to the farmer
They know supermarkets need milk so they have to have it beef and lamb still important but not as much
That's it.milk is a staple ,supermarkets know that's why most folk go in an then pick something else up.
So when arla ect go to them a say pay more they will.ans they need to make sure there's enough milk to get.

Had a look at the farmers guardian in the back where the graphs show last years prices against this years
Sheep are pretty much similar at the moment less previously everything else has had a lift even beef looks better on the graph than it feels.

Maybe they do
Suckler cow and breeding sheep incomes are under more strain though
Agreed but there’s a bit to go before they realise they are actually starting to run short. 2 years at least when you look at the cattle already on the ground and there’s the glut of cows to get out of the system before a shortage kicks in. The shortage is coming but it’s a bit down the track yet.

Or chicken, pork and egg producers.

As far as I can see they must be taking biggest hit.

Almost entirely reliant on cereal based diet.
Chicken producers are getting price rises now and have been earlier all this spring
Not sure about the rest pig price charts show huge lifts on the year but likely not enough against inputs by the sound of things

That’s not what we were talking about
But agreed never the less

Farming full stop isn’t getting enough money for the effort commitment and dedication that we all put in! Money is tight with everyone I talk to and people are seriously pee'd off with the whole job that’s everyone I speak too ! The hours put in for the profit works out at sweet fa
You can only push water uphill for so long there’s going to be a serious correction before long. The size of current bills coming in relative to output can be stood for a short time but not indefinitely. Even the smirk is coming off arable men’s faces now, corn is drifting ever lower.

Funny I was talking to someone earlier and he had a mate who supplied printer cartridges and other sundries to government departments and the likes. Never carried any stock as ordered straight from the supplier. Four salesmen on the phone and making a bomb. All taxpayers money just splurged by the sound of it. The amount of money wasted in this country is criminal.
