Just watched prize pen of mules sell at Thame on Facebook, anyone know what the idea is behind the old bloke stood in the middle wacking all the sheep with a stick the whole time? Looks like a bloody fairy farmer trying to get the low yielders in for milking … seems a backwards thing too be doing never mind putting on Facebook in this day and age with animal activists

Did it chit or is it still sat there waiting for a bit of moisture? Estate here put in 300ha of rape a couple of weeks ago, it all chited after a shower but has burn off to nothing now.

No it didn’t chit, we were suppose to have rain that week but it went around us!! Not sure if it will come now though, we’ve had little spots of rain that maybe we’re enough for the seed to just crack and now maybe it’s burnt off!! I’ve been waiting for a downpour to see what happens but it doesn’t materialise!! I’ll just re-do with turnips if we ever get any rain again

Good to have distinctive look until someone starts impersonating you. Mine is I wear a pair of glasses with one arm, that stile is never going to take off.

Bit more than keeping up them moving IMO.. if he wasn’t stood in the bloody middle of the ring would help… not a good imagine really IMO for the animal rights crew

I went once as a kid. It was mind blowing the amount of sheep and lorries there. Sounds like it’s really shrunk in size

Wilton Sept and Oct sales still have decent enough numbers- c. 5-10k in.

They could do with advertising better though. Store cattle at Salisbury are flying, sheep seem a bit flat.

How did you get on at Exeter with the store cattle today @Cows 'n grass ?

The bigger ones did better than I expected and the smaller ones did as I expected, which was not brilliantly but quite adequate. Given the the south hams resembles south Sahara at the moment I'm very glad they're someone else's problem now.

Just asking as a predominately sheep bloke with cattle

Pretty sure the chat will be better here tbh…….

leek stores today bought up in top ring pleased with em, didnt see anything sold down the bottom, god there was some sh!t in , a lot looked like march cattle , ready to tun out , not looking forward to sept oct cattle if thats the best they can do!

leek stores today bought up in top ring pleased with em, didnt see anything sold down the bottom, god there was some sh!t in , a lot looked like march cattle , ready to tun out , not looking forward to sept oct cattle if thats the best they can do!
