OH just back from market (N. Cornwall) with a very slight smile re hogs and sheep in general. It was dire two weeks ago, but around £76 for heavies today so we better get weighing.
Store cattle a very good trade too..

Hoggs better again this week £1.76kg for my best cheviots £70 any not fitting export trade were a fair bit less, my brother had some at £2.05kg beltex out of mules.

Ewes were ok as well but not really lifting like the lambs

trade does seem to be lifting steady 42kg-£70 in lamb ewes seem reasonable and poor cull ewes in demand??!

Great store trade at Thainstone today.

Hoggs av £1.75kg at Longtown yesterday, increase in export was the main driver they reckon, perhaps the worst is over and we may get out of the mire yet.

Mind you latest EBLEX report there could be a million more hoggs on the ground than last year, many may have been tipped to replace the culls cashed on the good prices last year but its still a lot of extra sheep.

Sold some decent Scottish blackface hoggs today in skipton, 40 kgs averaged £70 . They've been on adlib provin from feeders for a month though.

Sorry didn't see any today. I would say general trade would be in the £ 1.60's today lots in as well. We'll be able to see on fwi stock prices in the morning to see what they actually did! Buyers seemed keener for em though
