Be interesting experiment. I will be impressed if you manage 70t/ha. Irrigation is going to be the key. Without it I’d say no way.Mad idea or not
tulips coming out this next week
got 5 boxes of beet seed ,
drill it ,and irrigate it ,
whats the thoughts will it yield if left till march ,
They have got to fend off people drilling rapeYou beat me to it chop!!!
40 quid ton, it's better than I thought.
Mad idea I think. Late emerging beet (chicks) are getting hammered by shot holing by flea beetle? and are really struggling. Don’t suppose the bigger beet (hens) are helping though. Good luck if you go for it.Mad idea or not

Multi year deal in British Sugar favour. Guaranteed tonnage.Anyone explain to me what the point of the multi-year deal is? (In a rising market at least), signing up for more than one year seems like a lose-lose, and now you only get £40/t if you commit to another year on top, whereas one-year growers get £40/t without any strings attached.
Beat me to it!Regardless of the (better than anticipated) price just announced, I am tempted to wait until post Xmas before making a decision on beet. Another mild winter will mean even higher risk of virus.
