Beet v Ewe Nuts

Usually feed some beet here from December to about start of March, move on to ewe rolls from start of March. We start to lamb about 25th March. We use the beet to keep them full and we don’t use any silage. we are feeding about 1500 sheep.

This year washed and delivered beet is £50, ewe rolls are about £330.

Would I be as well with the ewe rolls instead? I don’t want to start to have to take silage out to fields…and most of it would need to be bought in anyway.

We are in Ireland.

It’s usually around £40, which was still dear. Maybe it’s not worth the hassle now at that price? Better with concentrates?

Can’t see them lasting as long washed. Think your doing ok if the a stone free etc
That’s main reason I wasn’t bothered I bought 18 ton and tipped them up in a field next too my shed and it’ll last me all of lambing probably going off how much I’m feeding them I thought they’d go mouldy once they’d been washed and sat in a heap

How much beet should ewes be having really pre lambing? I’m 2 weeks off with 1 batch and 4 weeks off with the other batch.. just been filling the back my truck up every morning, still on good grass and starting the early batch on some ewe rolls tomorrow..
