Beet yields 2020

The threshold has changed from 7% to 19% I believe but How that affects the Likelihood hood of getting it I don't know.

If it is 10% then it's not worth waiting for the outcome of the rothamsted model we stand to potentially gain more by being able to drill earlier.

I suggest you read fully the Ministerial statement. This provides full detail behind the reasoning for the derogation to be granted.

The following restrictions following use of seed treated with Cruiser may be relevant to many.
32 months for any restricted crop (flowering crops).
46 months before Cruiser can be used again.

Skim down to the overall restrictions section at foot of the web page where the bullet points point out the key factors you will need to know.

With the SFI requiring multi species cover crops the restrictions on following crops after beet make it all a tad complex. And I thought a post EU ag policy was going to be clear and simple! Spreadsheet and good memory seem essential!

Looks like the VY model has been over predicting VY incidence so the threshold has been increased. There’s a press release on defra website apparently.

My seed order form arrived today and I've just filled it in and emailed it off. I'm a big fan of neonics but after reading throught the EAMU and working out the implications for crops grown in subsequent years, i have, with a heavy hard said bugger it and ordered non cruiser seed.
My thinking is that it's looking unlikely to get it, especially with the good frosts were getting at the moment and having seed on farm a bit sooner to allow earlier drilling will help mitigate the lack of neonics..... hopefully.😟

Yep, looks that way. Good and sharp here this morning. Looking to the future when everyone is on one year contracts can see everyone saying to BS will wait until mid February, then tell if growing it.

Also drilling now after the beet as we are in a lovely spell of weather 🤞

Jealous. In the 2020 quagmire I had a 360 loading one cleaner loader; it feeding into another cleaner loader and still had one load at 22% soil 😂
