Beginners guide to driving a combine

I know, I know it’s only April but seeing as most of are in lock down (and maybe a bit bored) I thought I’d ask the question,

2 months ago, our experienced combine driver said he can’t drive the combine anymore due to health reasons, so it looks like yours truly will be doing it from now on.
I’ve not done an hour’s combining let alone a whole season, I know the very basics and can drive the thing around the yard and down the road.
I have asked dealer to go on one of their annual combine courses but I suspect that’ll be cancelled now.

So any advice to a newbie and any tips and tricks?

Combine is 11 plate NH CX8070 (non Elevation) with 25ft varifeed header

Find the book and set it according to that to start with unless previous driver has left the settings in the "computer".. if so when you change crop and run it up you will see the fan/drum etc change automatically, BUT be wary of sieve settings what it says and what it is can be different after a winter of sitting there.... make sure they are free before harvest starts.

Once running its whats in the returns that tells you the most about how well its set.... always be wary of a very clean perfect sample in the tank.

Vari feed header will help a lot put knife out so heads fall under the augur

Yeah I’ve got that, but it only goes CX8.70 which is a few generations newer than ours, will settings be similar?
I think it’s been updated the old version may have had it on there maybe worth comparing manual against newer version on app ?
Don’t over thrash and do push on don’t go to slow you’ll be fine ask you man to spend a afternoon with you nothing to it
