Full tank fuel, snack box and behind a hedge. Ever heard of the simple ways we used to do things without the need of a nanny or justifying our actions with endless explanations.

okay I see that they may have had a snack box
But are you suggesting mr Cummings and his wife would park in a gateway ( off the A1) and wee in a bush ?
And it’s reportedly 350 miles one way so 700 there and back
I doubt his car would have been full to the brim when he set off or could do 700 miles without filling up
So when he got to Durham he would have filled the car at a petrol station
Or someone else would have had to do it In which case
I doubt it was fully Cleaned between

Definitely would have veered off A1 for a slash and not a service station!
Not nitpicking but London Durham is 270 one way. Those who want him gone are those that cant stand him. Im just the same as them in that I would have nailed Blair for any silly thing given the chance.
Cummings has too much to offer and shouldn't be sacrificed to keep Starmer and remainers happy.

Can someone point me to what law Cummings has broken,it clearly states in the guidelines that getting child care if the parents are sick is allowed as one of the exemptions !

The problem is that there is no law as such, merely guidance which states that:

“You should not be visiting family members who do not live in your home. The only exception is if they need help, such as having shopping or medication dropped off”

Further, though, his parents are 71 & 73 - or in other words, high risk and vulnerable and for this age group, the guidance states : “where there are over 70s, particular care to minimise contact with others from outside your household”

Seeing as Cummings chose to isolate himself in a room in his parents house within the city of Durham, he is probably culpable of putting his parents at a very high risk of catching the virus especially as his wife is quoted as saying “Day in, day out for ten days he lay doggo with a high fever and spasms”

He won’t resign of course - because people like this rarely do - but as an exemplar to the nation, it’s a poor show.

Right, I’m off to visit my 97 yr old mum

Not according to the Times which I shall now quote you (whether you chose to believe The Thunderer or not, I shall leave up to you):

“A spokesman for Durham police said “On Tuesday March 31 our officers were made aware of reports that an individual had travelled from London to Durham and was present at an address in the city. Officers made contact with the owners of that address, who confirmed that the individual in question was present and was self-isolating in part of the house. In line with national police guidance, officers explained to the family the guidance around self isolation and reiterated the appropriate advice around essential travel.”

Drove to another home.
Did it while actually ill.
Expected his parents to look after their child who could have infected them.

Just shows the arrogant bubble our leaders live in. He has been driving policy so what does it say about Boris who hired him?
To add to this as I understand it

Drove 250 miles each way, knowingly symptomatic as was his wife. With a 4 year old.

Even in a Fiesta I can't imagine they'd do that round trip without refuelling, food and wee or other stops with a 4 year old

Unrestricted R-value typically 3 , so maybe 6 other members of the public caught it

Fine balancing act for Johnson. Hancock has been lined up as the fall guy for this shambles. I wager he’ll hang on to Cummings in case one head on a spike isn’t enough. Of course he should have fired him already, the bloke is a liability.
Makes me wonder if BoJo leaked it the day after Witness A cited Mr BoJo's penis had been active whilst still married even if no further investigations were to be undertaken with the American businesswoman

Stop Press: Number 10 states Cumming's actions WERE in line with Government guidelines

Can I just add to that?

Millions of families have made substantial sacrifices on government advice. Grandparents excluded from seeing and hugging grandchildren; families and friends unable to attend funerals to say goodbye; abused parents/children not able to escape and so on and this tosser does this?

Yep. Myself included. Rach and I agreeing not to see each other. Couldn't live with myself if I thought I'd passed it back to her elderly farming parents

Cant understand folk supporting him, health risks aside, we are on lockdown! The country is facing financial ruin as a result. Previous generations left behind empires, we will leave behind the gift of debt to future generations.

Therefore, to have someone as senior as Cummings stick two fingers up at government guidance, which is currently costing us billions each month is disgraceful. If not sacked anything that comes out of Mr Jhonsons mouth in the future will be ignored by the masses. When policemen try to enforce lockdown they will face abuse from the public who will claim class differences.

Quotation by? Date?
“Children should not be left with older grandparents or older relatives who may be particularly vulnerable. I know that’s going to be difficult too and I want to thank families for their sacrifice at this difficult time.”

No word on driving all over the country in that pursuit right enough.

I have to say - I have a feeling/recall we don't agree on much but I respect, agree with and thank you for writing this. Have a good Saturday!

It's his wife writing about the trials and tribulations of having the virus, looking after her husband, and looking after a 4/5 year old at the same time without mentioning the long drive and putting people at risk along the way that annoys me. (In The Spectator, I think.)

Next time she's on Radio 4's Thought for the Day, maybe she should reflect on sins of omission, and also apologise to families who have not bent rules and guidelines.
