I am doing a mate a favour & need some info on a Bell Premier 100XT concrete mixer with a Lister diesel engine.
First off, I need to make a starting handle to save him the angst of £120 odd for a new one
Looks straightforward enough.
Drive is double vee pulley from engine to layshaft, then a cogged flat belt drive (like a car cam belt) from the layshaft to the worm shaft for the drum gearbox. The layshaft sprocket & worm shaft sprocket both have significant flanges & there is no tensioner, nor can the distance between shafts be adjusted – both shafts are fixed.
This cogged belt is missing.
Does anyone know if this is a stretch belt (ugh!) as per the serpentine belts fitted to some cars, or is the only way to fit it to remove one sprocket, fit the belt & try to refit the sprocket complete with belt? That looks like a struggle to me if the belt is to retain any sort of tension, but I can’t think of another way to do it. – Has anyone does this job on this mixer ? Any ideas welcome...
