Alot of those very plain texels out of mules around the Stirling markets, big frames, no giggots, a think you'll have to buy afew real good texels 1000+ to see a difference, but abit beltex will make a difference also, the beltex x texel aren't cheap either.
I beg to differ, what you need is the solid handling mid sized Texel lambs you can pick any amount up for between £2-300.

And anyway, the Beltex has a rat's tail, whereas the Texel doesn't. But I don't know where it came from :scratchhead:

What about a ‘dutch texel’??

Exactly. Almost all dutch texels have a rattail. Since the Beltex is just a Dutch Texel exported out of Belgium is quite obvious. The English Texels over here have more wool on their tail.
I agree with @neilo, one and the same breed.

Old name for one of the extinct sheep used in the Texel is Pielsteert (arrowtail), rattail in the Texel might come from them, other possiblity is that the have used milksheep to incorporate the rattail in the Texel breed.
The sheep dairies which milk Texels, use about 1/8 of milksheep in their Texels.

Swifter sheep breed, which is half Texel also has the tale trait.

And you don’t need to worry about it. Slap on the wrist, inconsequential fine, welcome back to the fold and back pushing all sorts of stuff on Facebook…

Beltex is Texel (Dutch Texel) imported from the motherland, through Belgium, to you .... Nothing more special or exciting.

But why not leave like that i cant put beltex on my ewe lambs years ago i could put any beltex when were charollais supposed to be white.

That my first season selling the beltex x texels, instead of pure Beltex, lm pretty pleased around 400 away, smaller ones can run for a couple of months, but they sold just aswell as the pure, more size, and the tups all lived, only thing is the lmbs aren't just as uniformed, the lmbs of the texel ewes are really smart, but of the Scottish mule abit plainer. I, ll be buying another 4 in a few weeks time. And hardly any wee really small ones this year. So it's be a success.
