My avatar is a poor copy of a painting. It is the only evidence I have of my Great Grandfather's farm, Gatley Hill Farm. I was contacted by the South Manchester Archeological Research Team, to let me know that they were digging trial pits to see if they could find any traces of the farm. How did they know I was John Worthington's descendant? Google led them to a post about field names on this forum, and I had posted on it , mentioning the farm. My immediate family are the only descendants, and they had tried all other possible leads. I am hoping for some more information, but they have to get funding first.
