If you want a decent gun buy it and don't look back.

A good gun will last a lifetime so why put up with second quality.
When I bought my .22 the chap in the gunshot was adamant I should have a BRNO. It would likely have been just as good but I wanted an Anschutz and that's what I bought, gives me a smile every time I use it and will last my lifetime.
Same applies to watches, they all tell the time but some add a little bit more. Do I feel good in the Sekonda I wear when working.... no. Do I love the Rolex I wear for best and enjoy it ...... you bet I do.
You only come this way once, so enjoy some of the fine things in life.

Quite true. There seems to be a bit of inverted snobbery on here. If the OP had asked about a new pick up truck, I doubt the majority would be steering him to a FSO polenez or 2nd hand Tata load-beta. No. They'd be waxing lyrical about the luxurious comfort of their new Ford, Nissan, not to mention the Disco 4 getting a look in. My advice to @Joe S would be. If you're going to spend a serious bit of folding on a nice gun? Rather than go for something with an adjustable comb, get over to the mainland to someone like Ian Coley or another reputable gunsmith, they'll help you find one that's going to suit and alter the stock. Not just the comb but the whole lot. Length of pull, drop etc. It won't cost too much, some of the better ones will do it as part of the deal. It'll be far better than just raising the comb. Not to mention a good Berreta or Browning will last years if looked after and depreciate very little.
there does seem to be a bit of snobbery!maybe something to do with a 15 year old looking at big name guns?(and no mummy and daddy aren't buying it before anyone gets the wrong idea about me being spoilt!!) i would love a fitted gun but ive been advised by some folk at the clay club to get a a adjustable one because i should grow a bit yet!they reckon they can get it pretty bang on for me(y)thats my idea with buying a known brand it wont be hard to sell if i have to in the future(y)

If that's the case. Get one and pad the stock out with foam and tape.
Beware of experts at a gun club though. Every club has them. Commonly known as bullshitters. Make sure you sort the wheat from the chaff
The other alternative is to buy a cheaper gun. You can then butcher the said gun to fit with a chainsaw if you so please. Then when you've stopped growing treat yourself to something a bit sweeter. But by then you'll have discovered women. As with a gun though, don't settle for 2nd best with one of those. It'll cost you in the long run. Big time

When I bought my first gun at 16 the combe was too low. It spent a good few years with sticky tape and cardboard as a raiser.

If you want that gun buy it you will always shoot better with the gun you want. Any Beretta is quality and won't give you trouble. My brother shoots with a very expensive perazzi and having used it I would still rather shoot with my own silver pigeon.

Have a go with one with 30 inch barrels though.

I always prefer a beretta to browning. The lower profile seems to suit me better. At least with either you know it will last for ever and if it does break they are easily repaired. Dont think from any of this that I am an expert shot though, I am very average.

The gun I had with all the tape was a black action miroku. I like the deep engraving these days. When I realize I will never afford a B & E I will buy a 687eell.

I do know somebody who has been to the Perazzi factory to choose the wood and have his pair fitted for him. That was an expensive trip.
