Bergey inverters?

I would get a tv engineer to take a quick look, they do not need to have them powered up just to test the main power transistors, might cost a fee to look over it but could be worth while,

Interfluid made the rams, Hutchinsons engineering who supplied the tower made a set of hinges and the brackets, 2k for those and another 1800 for the rams.o_O
Hutchinsons made our tower as well, do you have any problems with resonance? Usually makes it at slow speeds and can be heard from nearly a mile away sometimes.

Yes, a bit like running your finger round the top of a wineglass sometimes. Service guy suggested filling a small section of the inside of the tube with expanding foam to stop it.

Yeah exactly like that. That's a good idea, might cost a small fortune though (depending on how much it'll need)? Was thinking about sandwiching strips of rubber where each section joins together? Still working on getting some brackets and rams yet at not ridiculous money, going to try a local engineering firm to see if they can make the brackets.

Just been reading through this post. I got so sick of Bergey and their lies, incompetence and poor customer service that I replaced my turbine with an SD6 from SD Wind (just the turbine top was swapped, same tower, cabling & inverter, power curve reprogrammed, they do a fitting kit). My Bergey had been down for 3 years whilst I waited on an alternator replacement under warranty, eventually Bergey informed me it'd been damaged by a lightning strike, it hadn't as there'd been no lightning, it was working fine when the Bergey was dropped for blade repairs then not working when the blades were reinstalled a couple of weeks later, I strongly suspect water ingress into the alternator.
Hope you got your inverter sorted?

After the 3 years of downtime and Bergey refusing to honour their warranty, they were kind enough to offer me an alternator for $13000 (+fitting), I declined, put a few extra £s towards it and paid around £17,000 for the SD6 plus installation etc, it doesn't produce quite as much, however it produces alot more than the 0 my Bergey Excel produced during its last 3 years, it's not embarrassingly noisy and I'm much closer to the SD Wind office, if I have issues I can go chap their door and discuss in person.

There's an excellent guy in Ayrshire for Bergey turbines and Inverters, Andy Warner - 07767032153, he reprogrammed my PowersyncII power curve when I swapped the Bergey Excel to an SD6 and kept the same inverter, think he has assorted inverter spares also. As others mention swapping to a newer inverter might be a wise option here instead of going down the Bergey repair route, i've had first hand experience of Bergey's lies and poor customer skills (hence I got rid of my Bergey Excel!).

We don’t think it’s the inverter!😳

Oh dear, that's not good, did the blades break before it came down or once it hit the ground do you know?
If you're looking for new blades etc I sold mines to Tom at Absolute (ASAW) in 2021 when I replaced my Bergey Excel with an SD Wind turbine, everything was included except for the alternator (which i'd been arguing with Bergey about long term).

I'm not sure of the sequence of events but it's been making some nasty noises for the last few days, it's a shame I'd not been able to drop it as it's a write off now.

I would say shortest blade came of,put head out of balance, sheared the generator bolts and the other 2 blades broke on impact with ground

I’ve got one exactly the same and you’ve got me a bit worried now. What sort of noise was it? Ours often makes a deep sounding resonance at slow speeds. Took it down last July to service and saw hairline cracks on the blades.FBA3BF18-CC42-48FE-8BD5-18252B82AD65.jpeg

It was more of a knock at lower speeds, presumably as one of the bearings broke up, it's ended up with both bearings gone and running on the centre shaft which has almost worn through. The blades do show cracks, we lost 1 set a couple of years ago, but the tower had been down for a few days and things seemed out of balance when we put it back up, they went a few weeks later, I think the damage to the blades this week was when it fell.
