Berthoud repair or new sprayer

Like everything else probably doubled in price now.

@Nearly didn't you run a brace of trailed Cleanacres?
Yes, but moved up to 24m.
Cleanacres didn't lose a penny and doubt Barbie the Gem will.

To be fair I run a brace of most things. :(

Going back to doing the spraying myself with my own equipment.
My Berthoud Standard 12 needs work to pass it’s MOT, hopefully nothing too major, but should I bother with it, or just buy a new cheap brand?
It has hydraulic boom height, and boom levelling, and quad nozzle holders, all of which I think would be extras on a new machine?
Pressure gauge is buggered, the sections don’t fully switch off, and there is only a rubber bung for the drain.

If it was me I would buy a cheap s/h such as in post 15 but if the only option is
a) doing up the Berthoud or
b) buying a jarmet/other cheapo
I would go with ‘a’ every single time.

Morning all, in between jobs I’v started to look at the issues the Berthoud has, and it ‘aint started well.
Removed the broken gauge and as you can see from the photos, something has come adrift. Looks like a piece of rubber, the diameter of a pencil, has broken off somewhere. Anyone have any ideas?
John Rhodes are having trouble matching the gauge as well, so a rethink may be needed.

Fair enough but don’t buy a new Jarmet or similar they are very poorly built, spend the money on as new a Hardi as you can afford, all the plastic bits get brittle and break when they get old.
Sorry I don't agree,I am on my second jarmet sprayer the welds are fine and unlike a Hardi it's galvanized so it doesn't rust out 😡

Newer jarmet are a lot better than the old ones.
must be millions of 25-30+ year old Hardi and other brands still in use. Doubt you'll say the same off jarmet in years to come. But then they're so cheap new you probably won't care

Are there not any berthoud about. Still running an everard here, been a good sprayer but want to move to 24 m ideally. Want a mounted but they can be heavy with a full tank so would probably have to swap tractors.
